Laughter is set to take centre stage in Port Stanley this spring.
Port Stanley Festival Theatre is bringing back its popular Improv Night for a one-night-only event on April 18th, promising an evening of fast-paced, unscripted comedy.
Featuring a lineup of Second City–trained performers, including Reid Janisse, the show offers something a little different from the theatre’s usual scripted productions.
Unlike a traditional play, improv is completely made up on the spot, notes Janisse, with performers building scenes, jokes, and even songs based on audience suggestions.
That means no two shows are ever the same, and the audience plays a key role in shaping what happens on stage.
Janisse says the chemistry between performers, many of whom have worked together for years, adds to the fun, creating a lively atmosphere that audiences can feel. He’s set to be joined by Nadine Djoury, Emily Richardson, Josh Murray, and Musical Improviser, Jacob Olivier.
Alongside the comedy, there’s also a lighthearted twist for the crowd that evening with the chance to take home some prizes.
And for Janisse, returning to Port Stanley is especially meaningful.
Improv Night takes place April 18th at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are available now through the Port Stanley Festival Theatre.
