A new local project is giving residents a chance to help document the changing beauty of two popular outdoor spaces in St. Thomas—one photo at a time.
The City of St. Thomas has installed “Chronologs” at Turtle Pond in Lake Margaret and the Lily Ponds at Waterworks Park as part of a community-powered initiative aimed at capturing how the natural areas evolve through the seasons.
The project allows trail users to place their phones on a mounted stand, snap a photo from the same viewpoint, and submit it using the email address posted on-site. Those images are then added to a growing timelapse that tracks changes over time, from blooming flowers and fall colours to wildlife activity and sunsets.
City officials say every submitted image helps tell the story of the spaces while encouraging residents to engage more closely with local nature trails.
The live timelapses are available online and will continue to grow as more residents take part in the project.
