As communities across Ontario recognize Police Week, the St. Thomas Police Service is using the opportunity to highlight how policing continues to evolve through partnerships, prevention, and community support.
Running from May 10th to 16th, this year’s Police Week theme is “Protecting Ontario through Service.”
According to the STPS, the week is designed to give residents a closer look at what modern policing looks like in St. Thomas and the work happening behind the scenes every day.
Because, as Corporate Communications Coordinator Samantha Wakefield explains, policing today goes far beyond responding to emergency calls.
Several local partnerships now play a role in how the service responds to calls and supports residents in crisis. Wakefield says those partnerships allow police to respond differently and more effectively when supporting people in the community.
Police Week also serves as a reminder that keeping the community safe is something everyone plays a part in.
Throughout the week, the St. Thomas Police Service will be sharing stories and behind-the-scenes features across its social media platforms, introducing residents to the people, programs, and partnerships that make up the organization.
