LemonAID Day is set to return to St. Thomas and Elgin County for a third year, with organizers hoping the community can help make an even bigger impact for local children this summer.
Taking place Saturday, June 13th, the fundraiser in support of the Elgin Children’s Foundation will once again see lemonade stands pop up across the region as families, businesses, schools, and community groups raise money to send local kids to summer camp.
The initiative, presented in partnership with Doug Tarry Homes, has grown steadily since launching in 2024. The first year raised nearly $13,000 through 25 stands, while last year’s expanded effort brought in close to $22,000 with 40 stands participating.
Myles Proulx, Volunteer and Community Engagement Advocate with Family & Children’s Services of St. Thomas and Elgin County, shares this year they are aiming even higher.
Proulx says while the fundraiser helps cover camp opportunities for children who might not otherwise be able to attend, the event has also become about something bigger.
Registered teams receive everything needed to run a stand, including lemonade mix, cups, jugs, signage, banners, and t-shirts. Participants also receive access to an online fundraising platform to help collect donations before and during the event.
At this point, 28 of the 40 available stands have already been claimed, with registrations expected to increase quickly as the event approaches.
Money raised through LemonAID Day goes directly toward helping local children attend camp, opportunities Proulx says can be life-changing.
While many lemonade stands will operate on June 13th, some schools and organizations will host their fundraisers on alternate dates throughout the week leading up to the event.
Proulx adds that community members are encouraged to stop by participating stands, purchase a cup of lemonade, and support the fundraiser throughout the day.
Those interested in registering a stand or learning more can do so through the Elgin Children’s Foundation website.
myFM has teamed up with our friends at Abode Home Comfort to host our very own LemonAID Stand on June 13th at the Real Canadian Superstore in St. Thomas. Stop by to see us day-of, or support our online campaign, here!
