Southwestern Public Health is asking for the public’s help following a dog bite incident in St. Thomas last Friday.
According to the health unit, the incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. at 1Password Park on Burwell Road.
Officials say an individual was playing at the park when an off-leash dog approached and bit them on the hand. The dog in question was a medium-sized black and white husky with a male owner, believed to be between 60 and 70 years old with grey hair.
Public health officials say they are working to identify the dog and its owner to confirm the animal’s vaccination status and to determine whether rabies post-exposure treatment is necessary for the victim.
Anyone with details about the incident is being asked to contact Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096.
