More than 700 students from across the Thames Valley District School Board will gather at Labatt Memorial Park on Thursday for the second annual Girls at Bat All Star Series.
The event celebrates confidence, connection, and inclusion through sport while showcasing the continued growth of the Girls at Bat program throughout the school board.
Supported by the Jays Care Foundation, Girls at Bat is an introductory baseball program designed to increase participation and retention of female-identifying youth in sport by breaking down barriers and creating welcoming spaces where participants can develop skills, build leadership, and make connections.
Organizers say participation in the program across TVDSB has more than doubled since last year, with more than 1,000 students from 30 schools taking part.
Throughout the day, students will rotate through baseball skill-building stations in the outfield and a variety of activities in a carnival-style area. The event will also feature lawn games, activities hosted by the London Public Library and Western Engineering, a DJ, and other interactive experiences.
