Students pursuing post-secondary studies in agriculture and environmental conservation have an opportunity to receive financial support through the Elgin/Kettle Creek Agricultural Conservation Scholarship.
The annual scholarship, created by the Elgin County Junior Farmers Alumni, the Elgin County Federation of Agriculture, and the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority, is administered by the Kettle Creek Environmental Trust.
Each year, a minimum $500 scholarship—or 75 per cent of the annual interest earned by the fund, whichever is greater—is awarded to an eligible student between the ages of 17 and 30 who lives in Elgin County or the Kettle Creek watershed.
Applicants must be entering or currently enrolled in an agriculture-related post-secondary program with an emphasis on environmental compatibility.
The selection committee considers several factors, including the applicant’s interest in agriculture, the environment or conservation, leadership and community involvement, academic achievement, and demonstrated financial need.
Applications, along with all required supporting documents, must be submitted by August 15.
