A London man is facing impaired driving and weapons charges after St. Thomas police say he was found asleep behind the wheel in a restaurant drive-thru early Sunday morning.
Police were called around 6:15 a.m. on July 26 after reports of a driver asleep in a pickup truck with the engine running. According to St. Thomas Police, the vehicle had been sitting in the drive-thru for approximately 30 minutes.
Officers arrived and arrested the 31-year-old driver.
Police allege the man later provided two breath samples at headquarters, each registering 110 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, exceeding the legal limit.
During the investigation, officers also say they found brass knuckles in the man’s possession.
The London resident has been charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
He was released from custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
