Drivers planning to travel through Port Stanley late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning will need to find another route as the Port Stanley Lift Bridge closes overnight for scheduled repairs.
The Municipality of Central Elgin says the bridge will close to all vehicular traffic beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, and is expected to reopen by 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 29.
The closure will allow crews to repair the bridge’s locking pin motor system after an issue was identified back on July 20.
Municipal officials say completing the repairs now is intended to reduce the risk of an unexpected service disruption in the future.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time if they’ll be in the area during the overnight closure.
The municipality is thanking residents and visitors for their patience while the work is completed.
