The St. Thomas Police will be focusing on the big four road safety areas of enforcement this Civic Long Weekend. The police will be out looking at enforcing impaired, distracted, aggressive driving and seatbelts. The focus on the big four is heightened during long weekends as that’s when the police seem to see an increase in occurrences involving them.
Corporate Communications Officer Tanya Calvert says that the increase is likely due to the extra time everyone has on the long weekend.
Calvert says that their best piece of advice to the public is to plan ahead for a safe ride home, leave extra time to get where you need to go, slow down and always wear a seatbelt.
