Three boaters are safe after their vessel capsized approximately 12 miles off the coast of Port Stanley Tuesday morning.
Elgin OPP say officers were called just before noon on August 4 after receiving reports of the overturned boat.
Police say all three occupants entered the water when the vessel capsized, but each was wearing a lifejacket. Before emergency crews arrived, the boaters were safely rescued by a passing civilian boater. No injuries were reported.
The OPP is thanking the civilians who helped transport officers from shore to the scene, as well as the Good Samaritans who came to the aid of the three boaters before police arrived.
Police say the incident serves as an important reminder of the importance of wearing a properly fitted lifejacket while out on the water.
