An 18-year-old Aylmer woman is facing multiple charges after an Aylmer Police officer was allegedly assaulted at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
Police say officers were at the hospital on August 6 with an individual who had been transported there under the Mental Health Act. At around 6:05 p.m., the individual allegedly became agitated and attempted to leave the hospital.
While officers tried to gain control of the situation, police note one officer was kicked several times. The individual also allegedly made a threatening statement toward the officer and damaged a Medavie Elgin EMS computer while attempting to leave.
As a result, the 18-year-old has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and mischief for destroying or damaging property.
