For the first time in 40 years, the name Bill hall will not appear on the ballot for Catholic school board trustee in the upcoming municipal election.
Although he filed his nomination papers back in the spring, when Stephen Huver of Rodney declared his intention this month, Hall realized the time was right to step away.
He referred to his lengthy stint with both the Elgin County Catholic School Board and now the London District Catholic School Board as “a good run.”
Much has changed over those 40 years, and while Hall was acclaimed several times, he still vividly remembers first being elected in St. Thomas.
Hall admits trustees have far less responsibility, but is quick to add, “You’re representing the people of the county and it’s important to have a voice there and make that known around the board table.”
Hall assures he will use one of the remaining meetings this term to reminisce about his time as a trustee.
In philosophical fashion, Hall closed off with, “You know maybe it is time for a change and some younger views on things. I’ve done my duty and I think I have done it well, and so I am happy to be going out on a good note.”
