Aylmer Police are investigating after a homeowner on Caverly Road reported an unusual interaction with two men claiming to be roofing contractors.
Police say they were called to the residence on August 10, after the homeowner reported that two men had knocked on her door earlier that day.
According to police, the men claimed they had noticed damage to the home’s roof while driving by and asked to inspect it. The homeowner gave them permission to go onto the roof.
While the men were on the roof, the homeowner heard a loud bang. Police say the men then told her the roof had been damaged by animals and needed to be repaired.
The homeowner became uneasy and asked the men to leave, which they did.
A second opinion from a local, reputable roofing company later determined the damage was man-made.
The investigation is ongoing, with APS reminding residents to be vigilant when it comes to door-to-door sales
