Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is launching a new 50/50 raffle aimed at helping families build brighter futures through affordable homeownership.
The Home Changes Everything 50/50 Raffle runs from September 1 to October 31, giving participants a chance to win half of the growing jackpot while supporting Habitat Heartland’s work across the region.
As Natasha Newby, Director of Community Impact and Engagement for Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario, explains, it’s much more than just a fundraiser.
The idea behind “Home Changes Everything” is simple, explains Newby: the true value of a home isn’t measured only in square footage.
A 2025 national study by Deloitte and Habitat for Humanity Canada found families living in Habitat homes reported improvements in areas including financial security, education, health, employment and community involvement.
Half of parents surveyed said their children were doing better in school after moving into a Habitat home, with many pointing to having a quiet place to study as a contributing factor.
The study also found 73 per cent of families reported better physical health, while 79 per cent reported better mental health. More than half reported improved financial security and increased participation in community events or volunteer activities.
Newby shares how funds raised will directly support their work.
