Residents will once again have the chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at the St. Thomas Police Service this weekend.
The STPS Community Open House is returning Saturday, September 12th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Police Headquarters, 45 CASO Crossing.
Corporate Communications Coordinator Samantha Wakefield says the event will give residents an opportunity to see the people, technology, and resources that help keep the community safe.
Guests will get a complete inside look at daily operations, including areas that aren’t normally open to the public.
Adding to that fun will be complementary balloons, popcorn, and cotton candy from Dotsy’s, along with giveaways for the younger visitors.
The open house will also include several community partners and activities for families. Victim Services Elgin, the Community Inclusion Council and Citizens on Patrol will be on site, while donations in support of the St. Thomas-Elgin Food Bank will be collected at the door.
And while there’s plenty to see and do, Wakefield says the biggest goal of the open house is building that connection between police and the community.
The STPS Community Open House is free to attend and runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Police Headquarters. Residents are encouraged to stop by, take a tour, and learn more about the work happening behind the scenes at our local police service.
