There’s another big milestone to celebrate for a local hockey star!
Rodney native Bo Horvat has been named captain of the New York Islanders, becoming the 16th captain in franchise history.
The 31-year-old isn’t new to the role. Horvat previously served as captain of the Vancouver Canucks before joining the Islanders in 2023, and has been an alternate captain for New York over the past two seasons.
The promotion is well-earned after a strong 2025-26 campaign in which Horvat led the Islanders with 31 goals and 57 points in 68 games. Since joining New York, he’s also led the team in both goals and points.
Now, the hometown kid will begin the new NHL season with a “C” on his jersey, another special chapter in Bo Horvat’s career.
