Another incredible day and turnout for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Ontario, which returned to St. Thomas on Tuesday, September 15th.
Local athletes joined members of the St. Thomas Police Service, Aylmer Police Service, and Ontario Provincial Police for the journey downtown, beginning at the west end of the city.
A quick stop was also made at City Hall for a few words from Mayor Joe Preston. That’s where myFM caught up with St. Thomas Special Olympian Julian Rick.
He’s the perfect spokesperson for our local athletes because, as Rick notes, he’s pretty much tried every sport!
Rick adds that he is so grateful to everyone who has made competing in Special Olympics possible.
The Torch Run is part of a global initiative that unites law enforcement with Special Olympics athletes to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and celebrate resilience.
