The 2018 St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Gala was a huge success.
This year $108,000 was raised and will be going towards the Cancer Care Centre.
Major Gifts and Communications Officer, Carrie Ford speaks to how the large sum of money will be used.
Ford explains that the Pharmacy Hood helps the pharmacy staff to mix the chemotherapy drugs in a safe and controlled environment, which ensures there is no contamination.
She adds that being able to mix the drugs on site it helpful as they have the chemotherapy department at the Hospital that works closely with the London Regional Centre.
In addition, Ford is excited for the future.
Ford says that this year’s event shows that the guests, sponsors and volunteers went above and beyond, and the impact is absolutely incredible and really allows the Foundation to put the money back into the very important patient care needs.
