With winter break kicking off Friday for students in St. Thomas-Elgin, the Thames Valley District School Board is asking that all personal belongings be taken home at the end of the week as a precautionary measure.
The board notes that no information regarding potential school closures and the requirement to shift to remote learning has been received at this time, but it will ensure that families are equipped to deal with any potential announcements by the Ministry of Education and/or provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health.
In addition, all student lockers need to be cleaned out before the end of the week.
Families are also reminded about rapid antigen test kits that will be sent home with every elementary and secondary student this week
Participation in the rapid antigen test screening is voluntary but encouraged, with students are not required to participate in order to return to school.
These tests are recommended to be used every 3-4 days over the holidays beginning December 23.
The TVDSB previously provided families with information regarding travel outside of Canada over the break and remind them to please review.
