Four youths from Malahide Township have been charged following an investigation into hateful graffiti at the skate park in Aylmer’s Optimist Park.
The charges stem from an incident reported on June 22, when police were called after offensive and racial graffiti was discovered spray-painted across the skate park’s ramps and surfaces.
Following an investigation, the Aylmer Police Service has charged four Malahide youths with mischief, with their identities protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
All four are scheduled to appear in youth court at a later date.
The Town of Aylmer’s parks staff quickly cleaned up the graffiti, with the cost of repairs and cleanup reaching nearly $1,000.
