After throwing his name in the ring for Mayor in the municipal election back in 2018, Malachi Male of St. Thomas has returned to politics, this time vying for the role of MPP in Elgin-Middlesex-London.
Originally from Uganda and fleeing as a refugee, Male spent the first portion of this life in Toronto, before settling down in the railway city and becoming a the local entrepreneur.
He notes how eye opening it was to see big city issues compare to those impacting the smaller and more rural parts of Ontario.
Representing Consensus Ontario, Male explains how they stand alone compared to the other parties in the race.
The official website explains that under a Consensus Government, elections become a matter of voters answering a single question: Which candidate in my riding will be our best representative? No more the worry for voters as to which party they have traditionally voted for or against, and no more will the personality of the party leaders factor in to the voters’ decision.
Male says it’s all about taking care of our own communities.
He adds that feedback from the residents of Elgin-Middlesex-London will be vital in what they do.
While out speaking with local voters, Male notes that a number of them are scared of being left behind.
He adds that at the end of the day, the constituents need to vote for change.
