That means someone in the region is starting the new year with an eight-figure win, and it could be closer to home than you think. The Tuesday, December 30 draw marked the first time the $80 million LOTTO MAX jackpot has ever been won in Ontario.

2. The City of St. Thomas advises it is aware of reports of dead and sick birds in the community, including in parks and stormwater management ponds.
3. A poor decision made by a motorist put the lives of young children in jeopardy.
4. It’s the type of road intersection more than a few motorists approached with some trepidation. However, after dozens of collisions and near misses, the intersection of Ron McNeil Line and Dalewood Road, north of St. Thomas, is now protected by traffic signals.
5. Aylmer Police are alerting the community after a recent phone scam left a resident out $1,800.
